Waterboots

by Yeonji Choi

This work is inspired by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the largest marine oil spill in history, caused by April 20, 2010. Oil spills brought disastrous economic and environmental consequences for our society, disrupting the marine ecosphere and devastating the wildlife and atmosphere. The word "water" is carved on the bottom part of the boots. The black ink evokes the image of oil spilled in the ocean. The boots represent the oil spills by human tracks.
