This branding and packaging design brief, set by Dublin-based illustrator and designer Conor Merriman, was undertaken as part of a college work placement with Limerick School of Art and Design in April 2021.
Tired of "soft" drinks that are anything but, Laytown Soda Co. put an emphasis on flavour over fizz.
The logotype, with its rounded, low-contrast letterforms highlights their use of natural ingredients and fullness of flavour. The 'T', which doubles as a parasol, pays homage to Laytown's seaside location but also proves that tropical tastes aren't half a world away. A calm yet vibrant colour palette and rounded graphic elements combine to promise fruity refreshment without an excessive sparkling sting.
