Mayo Clinic publishes a print magazine featuring the remarkable accomplishments of its alumni. The magazine, Alumni, is distributed to more than 36,000 physicians and scientists across 83 countries and 50 states each quarter.
McGuffin Creative Group was tasked with elevating the visual design to create a powerful, modern editorial storytelling piece for its readers. Leveraging Mayo Clinic’s iconic brand and the inspiring stories of its physicians, we created a 60-page magazine that blends typography, strong editorial photography and vivid illustrations in a dynamic, impactful manner.
This issue featured stories ranging from innovating young alumni, to historical luminaries to organ transplant centers. For each article, McGuffin developed a thoughtful imagery plan. We worked with photography teams to capture stunning editorial photography that brought stories to life. To add visual interest, we also included bold, elegant illustrations developed by the award winning Milan, Italy based illustrator Federico Gastaldi.
For added impact, we designed the magazine at an oversized 12.5”x9”. Printed with vibrant UV inks on uncoated Accent® Opaque stock and perfect bound, the finished piece has a sophisticated look and feel that complements the Mayo brand. The reimagined Alumni magazine has been met with widespread praise across Mayo Clinic.
