The Night Witches were a Russian Airforce regiment, number 588, that was comprised of all women fighter pilots. They flew during the IIWW and were known by their enemies as the Night Witches because they would often cut their engines and silently swoop in to execute bombing runs. All their enemies could hear was the ominous rushing wind as they flew by. The 588 regiment was never officially ‘on the books’ because women were not allowed to be pilots.
The founder of Night Witches Inc., Joelle Milne, has herself become exceptional in her field where women are not normally found. She is leading the charge as an example and an inspiration to other women looking to remove traditional boundaries and thrive. It was a real pleasure to work on this project.
