As much as we love our pets, we can’t be there for them 24/7. New and frequent changes in ownership, residence, location, and routine can trigger separation anxiety in our furry friends. Separation anxiety can result in various undesired behaviors such as destruction of property, indoor accidents, increased aggression, and even self-harm. Not only can separation anxiety cause behavioral issues in dogs, but it can also put dogs at high risk for health complications such as Coprophagia, depression, infections, and asphyxiation. Hushpup’s target users, career-driven young adults, are looking for a way to combat separation anxiety in their dogs.

Hushpup uses scientifically-backed dog enrichment techniques to create an engaging routine for your pet. Hushpup has five primary features: Olfactory, auditory, and environmental enrichment, routine development, and video monitoring. Unlike its competitors, Hushpup uses pre-programmed routines that dynamically cycle through different phases of preset or custom sounds and calming dog-safe scents which creates a unique balance of engagement and structure that prevents spikes in anxiety.

Over time, dogs will begin to recognize patterns within the developed routine, allowing them to know what to expect and when to expect it. This routine helps pups to build confidence and independence -- both helping to squash separation anxiety. For pet owners, Hushpup comes camera-equipped so you can check in on your pet via the app interface. Its sensory inputs and outputs are all encased in a wall-mounted dog-friendly silicone material.
