For this project, I created cover illustrations for a special edition book of the works of Edgar Allen Poe. I attempted to create something that would appeal to Poe enthusiasts and those looking for an exciting reading experience.
I produced a series of cover artworks with hand-drawn illustrations and photographs inspired by the raven shouting "nevermore" at The Raven. I attempted to play around with as many things as possible in the preliminary stage. After the main illustration had been produced, I then manipulated other versions of artworks on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
I tried to convey a metaphor of darkness and blood, expressing an anxious and empty feeling through the black and burgundy colour scheme and the illustration itself.
The title's typography is based on serif font type. Various shapes and decorations are added at the end of each letter to give a bold, stylish, and unique feeling. It was initially created as an analog drawing, and I then produced multiple vector versions using pen tools and clipping mask functions on Adobe Illustrator. I selected the final type that best matches the main cover illustration.
